These sessions are health promotion and wellness topics geared for Indigenous junior high students. At FMT. Indigenous students are provided the opportunity to gather with our Truth & Reconciliation Lead Teacher and participate in this virtual lunch session. We look forward to continuing to participate in the 2022-2023 school year. If would like to stay informed about ECSD’s Indigenous Initiatives events and supports such as the virtual Indigenous Family Nights, district campaigns (Orange Shirt Day, Metis Week, Moose Hide Campaign, National Indigenous History Month) and community resource sharing, please check out their social media pages on Facebook: “Indigenous Learning Services, Edmonton Catholic Schools” and the “Braided Journeys Wellness Page”.

Orange Shirt Day was declared to recognize the harm done to residential school students and show a commitment to the principle that every child matters. This day was chosen as it reflects the time of year that the children would have been taken away from their families to attend these schools. On September 29th, FMT students and staff wore orange to honour residential school survivors & their families.
